Le couple présidentiel sénégalais a été accueilli à l’aéroport d’Ollombo par le président congolais Denis Sassou Nguesso, un témoignage de l’amitié qui existe entre les deux chefs d’Etat. Les deux personnalités vont certainement échanger sur les questions d’intérêt commun.
Depuis 1968, les deux pays ont établi leur relation diplomatique à travers la signature de plusieurs accords de coopération dans différents domaines. Plus récemment, en 2014, Brazzaville et Dakar ont fait part de leur convergence de vue dans la crise russo-ukrainienne en exprimant leur volonté de voir la diplomatie prendre le pas sur la surenchère guerrière.
Le président Macky Sall a eu droit un accueil chaleureux de la part de la communauté sénégalaise qui était mobilisée sur l’esplanade de l’aéroport international d’Ollombo. Les habitants de la ville sont venus saluer le Président Macky Sall avant son départ pour la ville d’Oyo.
